Winning the first Golden Leopard (Pardo d’oro) of Locarno Locarno International Film Festival in 1970 for Yugoslavia, Lilika is one of the very few films of Branko Plesa, mostly known as actor and theater director.

Plesa’s ten years old character Lilika faces the authorities for social care, being subjected to negligence and violence at home.

Belonging to the modernist auteur-centered notion of cinema of the 1960’s in ex-Yugoslavia, labeled as novi film (new film), Lilika is a masterful work of cinema art, rarely shown in the post-Yugoslav period.
