Robert Bisha & Kosovo Philharmonic – MONADE
17.09.22
8:00 pm

Lumbardhi Foundation is pleased to invite you to the premiere of the piece “Monade” composed by the composer, pianist and poly-instrumentalist Robert Bisha, co-commissioned by Lumbardhi Foundation and Kosovo Philharmonic.

After the solo piano performance “Home Neverland” in 2020, Bisha returned to Prizren this spring for an artistic residency during which he began the process of research and composition, becoming familiar with the history of Kino Lumbardhi and the changing circumstances throughout its 70 years, through studies and meetings with members of the artistic community.

Starting from this research, he composed “Monade”, a symphonic suite for pianoforte, orchestra, choir, soloists, modernized folk instruments and cinema, where the cinema is considered as an instrument included in the orchestra. Kino Lumbardhi is taken as the epicenter for the examination of key themes that belong to the history of the city of Prizren.

Thus, from the perspective of the composer, the city is taken as an exemplary place for its social commitment through the changes that started at Kino Lumbardhi.

For the premiere of “Monade” on September 17, Robert Bisha will be accompanied by members of the orchestra and choir of the Kosovo Philharmonic, solists Elvis and Gjulian Bytyqi and Anastasia Skënderaj who supported Lumbardhi in this initiative and welcomed the suite, on the occasion of the opening of their concert season.

This concert is made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC and the Municipality of Prizren.
