“Schauplatze” was Wim Wenders’ first short film, but only two small leftover shots from the film remain. These two shots were used as the opening shots for Wenders’ experimental black-and-white film Player Shoots Again.
Reverse Angle: Ein Brief aus New York (1982), 17 min.
Reverse Angle stands as Wenders’ first diary film, and explains the struggles faced by Wenders’ in the direction and production of the feature film Hammett, a neo-noir mystery film. Through this recollection of the film’s challenges, Wenders explores the differences in the film-making process between Europe and the United States.
Chambre 666 (Room 666) (1982), 44 minRoom 666 is a thought-provoking film that poses a simple question. At the 1982 Cannes Film Festival, numerous directors including Steven Spielberg, Jean-Luc Goddard, and Rainer Fassbinder were each invited to room 666 of the Hotel Martinez and given roughly 11 minutes to answer a list of questions. The most prominent of these was “Is cinema a language about to get lost, an art about to die?”
The film program is made possible in collaboration with Wim Wenders Foundation and Goethe-Institut with the support of the German Embassy in Pristina.
All screenings are free and shown in their original language with Albanian and English subtitles.
