“The Great Yugoslav Songbook”
Free entrance.
An ironic exploration of the heritage of Yugoslav pop music from the 1950s and 1960s, “The Great Yugoslav Songbook” brings together a combination of musical genres and deconstructs them to resemble a peculiar musical montage. Including big-band style ballads and Eurovision hits, French chansons and Italian Schlagers in covers, catchy twist melodies and experimental rock tunes, alongside the Latin rhythms of the Mediterranean, the project strips apart, twists and manipulates the sounds. In this frame, rather than grasping on to the old, a creative new take on the past is formed.
Performing for the first time at Lumbardhi, singer Vesna Pisarović’s distinctive voice and her ensemble of musical partners including Giorgio Pacorig on piano, Zeno de Ross on drums, and Romano Todesco on double bass, will effectively bring to life a collection of jazz improvisation and experimentation.
This concert is organised in partnership between Lumbardhi Foundation and Forum ZFD in Kosovo and Forum ZFD in Serbia, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Lumbardhi music season is supported by Gjirafa, BpB and Koha Group.
